Bone Broth Chili

This chili is my "easy, go-to" recipe on any fall or winter evening and it lasts all week. Noted now!... I do not use a lot of tomatoes in my recipe because I become extremely bloated from having too many. But one thing I do use a ton of to fight bloating is bone broth! Using it as my liquid base because it is not only delicious but an amazing nutrient dense food! Bone broth, unlike a common chicken broth, contains bio-available minerals, which means it can be absorbed and utilized in the body. It is also known for gut healing abilities and contents of anti-inflammatory amino acids. You can find bone broth at your local grocery store in a box form, sometimes they have it in the freezer or get it online. P.S. ** If you prefer, you can always use a Stock in replace of bone broth"


  • 1-2 Tablespoons olive oil

  • 3/4 sweet onion (finely diced)

  • 1 red bell pepper (finely diced)

  • 1 yellow bell pepper (finely diced)

  • 1 pound ground turkey

  • TheNewPrimalCooking Sauce from *optional but recommended*

  • 2 Tablespoons chili powder ( 3 if you like it spicy)!

  • 1 teaspoons ground cumin

  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

  • 1 teaspoon dried cilantro

  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or more)

  • 1 (15 oz) can organic diced tomatoes

  • 1 (15 oz) can tri-bean blend (aka just a can of Mixed Beans)

  • 1 + 1/4 cup Turkey Bone Broth (or Chicken) (Turkey/Chicken stock works too)


  1. Start by browning your ground turkey in a skillet using TheNewPrimal Original cooking sauce. Place just enough sauce to cover the meat and leave on low heat to simmer/evaporate 90% of the liquid. Cover with lid and turn off heat.​

  • You can also just use olive oil to brown your meat if you prefer! Cook the same until the pink color has disappeared .

  1. Over medium-high heat, using a large pot add: olive oil, finely diced onions, red & yellow peppers, 1/2 tsp salt. Stirring frequently for 10ish min. until your onions are translucent

  • If you need, add a splash of water. This will help cook the veggies.

  1. Next add in dried spices: chili powder, cumin, oregano, cilantro, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well with veggies!

  • Adding these without liquid may seem odd but it helps bring out the bold flavor of all your spices!

  1. Last add your Bone Broth (or stock), cooked turkey meat, canned tomatoes, and canned beans. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for minimum of 30-45 minutes.

Like most chilis this dish is amazing as leftovers! ​

Let cool and taste test adding more salt if needed.

P.S. If you're trying to eat less meat just add an extra can of beans for protein!

Black beans would be a great addition!
