My birthday falls on November 14th which is recognized as World Diabetes Day. World Diabetes Day was launched in 1991. Three years later I was born. Most people who have been diagnosed with a chronic illness, ask the question "why me?"...I am not sure when I will receive that answer. Look out for a blog post soon, I'll be sharing my journey of living with this disease for 10 years! (almost there)
But for today, I want to focus on raising awareness. Chronic diseases such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes are the leading causes of death and disability in the United States. Juvenile diabetes (Type One) is handed to children/young adults at a rapid rate and it's a challenge 365 days a year 24 hours a day. I hope I live in a time when this will be cured!
I encourage you to learn more, raise awareness by talking with others, or donate! It is a great cause to help find a cure for all the diabetic darlings out there. Check out my facebook page if you want to donate to the JDRF.
Formerly known as Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, now JDRF is an American nonprofit (501 organization) that funds Type 1 Diabetes research & advocates for regulation favorable to medical research. Making it easier to market new medical devices.
