Winter skin means the start using face oils on the daily. I find they really do help my skin...especially in cold climates! I always look for cold pressed - organic oils when shopping. There are brands thats will blend certain oils to target a particular skin need. A brand I trust is Living Libations and there are a couple at Sephora as well (if you want to purchase blends). You can always make your own which can be fun. In the mornings I splash with cold water, pat dry and apply my oils immediately. Today I used a blend of jojoba oil and rosehip. These are very gentle oils that soften the skin and lock in moisture. I still use a a face wash and moisturizer but I love adding in oils to my routine.
Oils listed are very gentle and usually suitable for all skin types but I want to go ahead and encourage you that before you slather your face in oils... I recommend performing a patch test. This will ensure that you aren’t allergic to the oil. If facial oils are use regularly they can have many benefits for the skin here are some of my favorites:
-contains iodine, which helps remove harmful bacteria that will prevent breakouts from appearing (great for acne prone skin)
-anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties which can be helpful for healing acne scars, sunburn, soothing eczema, etc.
-natural exfoliator that can help reduce dull skin and leave you looking glowy and vibrant.
-richin vitamin A (containing several nutritional compounds, including retinoids). Retinoids are known for their ability to reduce hyper-pigmentation and other visible signs of aging.
-can regulate and balance the amount of sebum on the skin's surface which helps in treating different types of acne.
-because of it's Vitamin E content there are natural inflammatory properties and this can provide a soothing and calming effect for your skin.
I hope this helps your winter skin!
