Simple Salad with Steamed veggies

I have been on a steamed veggie craze. I don’t know if it’s because I’m slightly lazy and the veggies cook much faster versus roasting,  but they taste so satisfying either way! Today’s lunch was a huge bed of chopped leafy greens, sweet potatoes, red cabbage, cauliflower, and cilantro.

The Beauty Benefits: 

 

Red cabbage is an excellent source of minerals such as manganese, iron, magnesium, and potassium. This vibrant veggie is one of the best sources we can eat to bone health. By including red cabbage regularly in your diet can help strengthen and maintain strong bones. When you lightly steam red cabbage it takes away the pepper taste. 

 

Sweet potatoes are packed with essential minerals like potassium, magnesium, and more which support balancing hormones. For women and young girls consuming more iron from plants can positively influence their fertility. After much research my understanding is that healthy carbs are essential for a woman to remain in proper hormone function. Cauliflower is incredibly high in vitamin C. This is a vitamin with proven antioxidant that helps fight against harmful free radicals, boosts immunity, and prevents infections. If you think about how cauliflower grows best in cool climates (a winter veggie) placing it into the category of eating seasonally, it's great for this time of year to protect and build our immune systems. 

 

Cilantro is known to help pull out/detox the heavy metals from our body. Heavy metals are things such as arsenic, aluminum, mercury, and lead that become "stuck" in our tissues. An over load of this can cause infertility, hormonal imbalances, to heart disease, neurological conditions, and more! We are all susceptible to heavy metals and just by adding in this simple herb can help balance our bodies.
